Grace Workplace Solutions recently completed a large and complex sequential transition project for Libraries Tasmania in Hobart, spanning a duration of two months. We provided consultative, project management and transition services, and successfully managed the relocation of over 91,000 archive collections, office furniture and equipment, map/plan cabinets and other bespoke collections of a sensitive and unique nature. The archives and collection date back from early European settlement to the present day, making the records extremely valuable, sensitive, and irreplaceable.
One of the distinctive challenges faced during the execution of this project was preserving the collections amidst rainy days as the archival material was particularly sensitive to moisture. We developed innovative procedures and specialised techniques to safely transfer the collection, utilised heavy-duty water-proof cages to prevent any possible water damage during the relocation.
